12^th Conferenceof the French Electrostatics Society

26-28 August 2020 (Gif-sur-Yvette, France)

GENERAL INFORMATION:

            The 12^th edition of the French Electrostatics Society (SFE) will be held from 26 to 28 August 2020 on the new campus of CentraleSupelec, on the Saclay Plateau near Paris. As in the past, the conference will be a forum for exchanges about current research on electrostatics and will also give the opportunity to scientists in the field to meet each other and share their ideas. The conference should also facilitate contact between researchers from public institutions and industry and allow young researchers to present their work.

            This edition of SFE will consist of 5 half-days (starting Wednesday August 26^th at 2 pm and ending the afternoon of Friday August 28^th.)    

SPECIAL SESSION: « PUBLIC DEMONSTRATIONS »

This year we are proposing to organize a special session of the conference for electrostatic demonstrations for the “general public”. The demonstrations will be prepared by any and all conference participants who wish to.   The challenge will be to imagine and present either classic or new experiments to the non-specialist public, accompanied by appropriate presentations, and using the demonstration to communicate a scientifically pertinent idea.

The details of the special session are not yet fixed. We have reached out to the scientific communication specialists at the Palais de la Découverte for their participation. We would like to ask for all participants who would like to contribute to this session to contact us in order to best organize their demonstrations.    

ROLAND COELHO PRIZES:

The Roland Coelho prizes, at the amount of 300 euros each, are awarded at the conclusion of each SFE to student-researchers for the best talk and the best poster. The winners will be selected by the scientific committee members present at the conference.
